Gimp Assignment 2

For this assignment we were required to take an image of a car and make edits to it to make it look like a sample we were given. The first image is the edited image. I adjusted the levels to make things appear darker and we also used the clone tool to get rid of some of the light glare. This assignment taught how to use the clone tool and the levels adjustment. These two things togather can make a large difference in the outcome of an image.

Macro Photography

For this assignment we were told to choose a topic based off the different types of photography. I chose Macro Photography which is the act of taking a picture of an object up close to reveal the minute details of the image.

The Shutter speed for this was 1/1600
Focal Length: 6
Fnumber: 3.5

This image was by far my best example of Macro that I took it shows the very small details of the image down to the single fibers.

These are some of the other Macro images I took:

Digital Photography Assignment 1 - Macro

For this assignment I will be demonstrating the use of Macro photography which is the act of taking close up pictures and making them seem larger then they are. After browsing photos online I have chosen a few that I wish to emulate for my assignment.

Shutter Speed and Aperature

For this assignment we had to learn about shutter speed and aperture and make adjustments to both to get different pictures. We had to have 4 pictures for Aperture and 4 pictures for shutter speed. From this assignment I learned that by adjusting shutter speed and aperture you are able to completely change the way the image look.

The first group of images are an example of aperture changing the depth of field and making the background more or less blurry depending on the amount of change

The second group is showing how shutter speed can make a difference in the amount of blur in the images and it shows and accentuates movements very well

Composition Project

In this project we were tasked with capturing the 11 elements of photography. These elements are: The Rule of thirds, color, balance, framing, perspective, space, pattern, symmetry, texture, depth of field, and lines. These are the elements of a good photo.

Because of this assignment I was able to learn about the different styles of photography and how each one interacts with the other to make an amazing picture. The lessons learned through this assignment will definitely help me on my way to become a great photographer.

Picture 1: This picture shows the element of Depth of Field with the water bottle being in focus while the background being out of focus

Picture 2: This picture uses the rule of thirds because the subject of the picture is sitting on one side of the thirds line and fills up 1/3 of the frame.

Picture 3: This picture shows symmetry with each of the parts of the building being the same size and designed in the same way

Picture 4: This picture uses lines to show where the main part of the subject is.

Picture 5: This picture uses texture in an ironic way because while the cover says water every thing around it is dry and dying.

Picture 6: This picture illustrates Perspective. Since we are looking up at the chair it makes it look much larger and intimidating then it actually is

Picture 7: This image shows framing by literally having some one pose in a door frame while the door acts as an outline

Picture 8: This picture shows Color by having the green exit sign stand out against the white and black background

Picture 9: This picture illustrates space by having the pen which is normally small take up a large piece of space

Picture 10: Balance is what is illustrated in this image since the image it self is mostly focused on the right side with the fire hydrant and the sign

Picture 11: This is an example of pattern due to the fact that all of the lockers are in the exact same place.
